RecurSave Research Dataset Licence

Last updated: 16 August 2026

© RecurSave Limited. All rights reserved.

RecurSave research datasets are proprietary. Subject only to the limited permissions expressly granted by this Licence, RecurSave reserves all rights it owns or controls in its research datasets and original research material.

This reservation does not claim ownership of underlying government facts, public-domain material, or material owned by another party.

Purpose

This RecurSave Research Dataset Licence (the "Licence") sets out the limited terms on which RecurSave Limited ("RecurSave", "we", "us", or "our") permits use of RecurSave research datasets.

The Licence allows viewing, citation, journalism, academic and informational use, reasonable extracts, attribution, and backlinks to the original RecurSave research. It does not grant general commercial reuse of RecurSave datasets.

What this Licence covers

This Licence applies to RecurSave research datasets published on recursave.com, including, to the extent RecurSave owns or controls rights in them:

  • RecurSave-provided downloadable dataset files, such as CSV files;
  • RecurSave's original selection, arrangement, calculations, transformations, synthesis, analysis, presentation, tables, charts, research findings, and other original material; and
  • dataset tables and related original material as published on RecurSave research pages.

This Licence does not apply to RecurSave's name, trademarks, logos, or branding, except for the limited attribution required or permitted below.

Source materials

RecurSave research may use data originating from government agencies or other third-party sources.

Ownership and licensing of those underlying source materials remain governed by the applicable source. RecurSave does not claim ownership over material that is in the public domain or otherwise owned by another party.

This Licence applies only to the extent RecurSave owns or controls rights in its original selection, arrangement, calculations, transformations, synthesis, analysis, presentation, tables, charts, research findings, downloadable dataset files, and other original material.

Where you use underlying source materials, you remain responsible for complying with the terms that apply to those materials.

Relationship to the Terms of Use

Use of the RecurSave website generally remains governed by the Terms of Use.

This Licence specifically governs permitted use of RecurSave research datasets. It does not replace the Terms of Use.

Where this Licence expressly permits a particular use of a RecurSave research dataset, that use is permitted for the dataset material covered by this Licence. All other provisions of the Terms of Use continue to apply, including those relating to website access, the RecurSave name and trademarks, and the nature of information on the Site.

Permitted use

Subject to this Licence, you may:

  1. View published RecurSave research datasets.
  2. Download RecurSave-provided dataset files in order to read them, cite them, quote reasonable extracts, or conduct internal analysis.
  3. Quote or reproduce reasonable extracts, statistics, findings, charts, calculations, and limited portions of a RecurSave dataset in journalism, academic work, commentary, or other informational publication.
  4. Publish online using RecurSave research, provided you clearly identify RecurSave as the source and include a reasonably prominent hyperlink to the relevant original RecurSave research page.
  5. Publish offline using RecurSave research, provided you clearly attribute RecurSave and identify the relevant research article or dataset.
  6. Analyse the published research for your own internal purposes, and publish commentary, conclusions, or limited derived findings, only as set out under "Modifications and derived analysis" below.

These permissions are not limited to individuals. An organisation, including a business, may read RecurSave research, cite RecurSave, quote reasonable extracts, link to the original research, and conduct internal analysis.

These permissions do not grant a general right to commercially exploit a RecurSave dataset, and they apply only to rights RecurSave owns or controls.

Attribution

If you use a RecurSave research dataset under this Licence, you must give RecurSave clear credit.

For online use, that credit must identify RecurSave as the source and include a reasonably prominent hyperlink to the relevant original RecurSave research page.

For offline use, that credit must identify RecurSave and the relevant research article or dataset.

You may not remove, obscure, or alter required attribution.

Modifications and derived analysis

You may analyse the published research for your own internal purposes.

You may publish commentary, conclusions, or limited derived findings provided that:

  • you do not reproduce a substantial portion of the dataset;
  • RecurSave is clearly attributed;
  • online publication includes a reasonably prominent hyperlink to the relevant original RecurSave research page;
  • your own analysis is clearly distinguished from RecurSave's original findings;
  • the use does not create a substitute for RecurSave's dataset; and
  • the use does not create a competing commercial data or research product without RecurSave's prior written permission.

You must not present modified calculations, interpretations, derived results, or transformed data as original RecurSave findings or as an original RecurSave dataset.

This clause does not grant an unrestricted right to transform or commercially exploit a RecurSave dataset.

Not permitted without written permission

Except as expressly permitted above, you may not do the following without RecurSave's prior written permission:

  1. Sell or license a RecurSave dataset as a standalone product.
  2. Republish, mirror, scrape for republication, or redistribute substantially the complete RecurSave dataset as a substitute for the RecurSave version.
  3. Remove required attribution.
  4. Represent modified or derived data as an original RecurSave dataset.
  5. Use RecurSave's name, trademarks, branding, or research in a way that suggests sponsorship, affiliation, approval, or endorsement.
  6. Use a RecurSave dataset as a material input to create, operate, sell, license, or provide a competing dataset, database, data product, benchmarking product, research product, intelligence service, commercial report service, software product, API, subscription product, or other commercial product or service where the RecurSave dataset materially contributes to its value.
  7. Package, aggregate, transform, combine with other datasets, sublicense, or otherwise process RecurSave dataset material for resale, commercial licensing, or redistribution as a data product.

"Substantially the complete RecurSave dataset" means the dataset as a whole, or a portion large enough to serve as a substitute for obtaining the dataset from RecurSave.

Internal analysis is not, by itself, a breach of items 6 or 7.

No endorsement

Nothing in this Licence grants permission to state or imply that RecurSave sponsors, is affiliated with, approves, or endorses you, your organisation, or your use of the data.

No warranties

RecurSave research datasets are provided as published, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. RecurSave does not warrant that a dataset is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.

No additional rights

This Licence grants only the permissions expressly stated. No other licence, title, or right is granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.

RecurSave reserves all rights not expressly granted.

Nothing in this Licence limits any right or permission you may have under applicable law that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Termination

The permissions granted under this Licence terminate if a user materially breaches the Licence. This does not affect rights or remedies available to RecurSave in respect of the breach.

Separate permissions

RecurSave may grant additional or different permissions in writing. A written permission applies only to the use it describes and does not change this Licence for any other use.

Governing law

This Licence is governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Licence shall be resolved by the courts of New Zealand, unless otherwise required by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
